Performance from Sullivan & Flint
Live broadcast on Tethervision. 7:00pm
From Motorcade/FlashParade, Bristol
Doors Open: 6:30pm

Motorcade/FlashParade welcome back their 2011 artists in residence Christine Sullivan and Rob Flint to perform their new work The Thing Is.

Following recent work using the human voice as a descriptive and transformative tool, Christine Sullivan and Rob Flint present another action/event where live description is a substitute for the visual spectacle of the artwork.

In a world where screens increasingly divide our experience between physical presence and mediated absence, this is an experiment with their attention, and with yours.

Sitting in a synthetically cocooned gallery space watching two different versions of the classic horror movie ‘The Thing’ on video glasses, the artists will describe their experience as it takes place. Watching the films for the first time, each describes their specific movie in parallel at opposite ends of the space, while the audience move freely between them, assembling a second-hand narrative from re-told stories separated by three decades.

Their actions will be broadcast in a further excessive reiteration through Tethervision.
