SCREEN SHOTS 2009 | single-channel video with audio | 16:9 | 03:33 minutes

Screen Shots functions as an abridged interpretation of a crime-thriller-feature-film as six key ‘scenes’ have been spliced together coercing the viewer to supply the connective tissue of the narrative. Any ‘action’ taking place within the film will never be seen but instead heard as if happening in a virtual space just behind the camera. All six scenes have been constructed using rear-projected motion ‘backdrops’ and a static/cut-out in the foreground.Screen-shots aims to consider the dialectic beteween cinema and its negation by striving for a continuous sense of suspense but doing so through somewhat dubious illusion.
